BHI Construction & Real Estate Development Welcomes New Externs for Winter 2025 DCSEU Workforce Development Program
Washington, DC – January 23, 2025 – BHI Construction & Real Estate Development (www.bhibuilds.com) is proud to announce its participation as a mentor organization in the Winter 2025 cohort of the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) Workforce Development Program. As part of this initiative, BHI is excited to welcome two talented externs, Isaiah Wool and Alexa Wheeler, to its Sustainability Consulting Division.
This five-month externship program connects District residents who are new to the workforce, transitioning careers, or seeking new opportunities with green economy leaders. BHI has designed engaging, right-sized externship experiences to ensure that participants complete challenging, meaningful projects within the program's timeframe. Externs will leave with a comprehensive work product that they can showcase to future employers, demonstrating their skills and contributions to advancing sustainable construction and energy efficiency.
Isaiah Wool, a Howard University graduate with expertise in economics and sustainability, brings a strong foundation in data management, community development, and energy efficiency principles.
Alexa Wheeler, an accomplished professional with a background in environmental science and project management, has a proven track record in stakeholder engagement and sustainable development initiatives.
“At BHI, we believe in empowering the next generation of green economy professionals while strengthening the capacity of local contractors and organizations,” said Jason Saunders, President at BHI. “Isaiah and Alexa will work on projects that not only enhance their skills but also directly contribute to improving energy efficiency in DC’s affordable housing sector.”
Throughout the program, the externs will receive hands-on training and mentorship while contributing to critical projects. By the end of their tenure, they will deliver actionable results, including a completed project that highlights their expertise in the green economy.
